Victory Mission, Central Assembly Hosting Drive-Thru Thanksgiving

Victory Mission is hosting a drive-thru Thanksgiving meal tonight, November 25, at Central Assembly of God church on North Boonville in Springfield.

It’s part of an effort to keep people safe during the coronavirus while providing meals to those in need.

Victory Mission hopes to serve around 400 people from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Walk ups are welcome.

Victory Mission has already handed out over 600 Thanksgiving food baskets.

Here’s more on the meal:

Tonight, November 25th, Victory Mission will be hosting a drive-thru community meal at Central Assembly, 1301 N Boonville, starting at 4pm while supplies last.

This year’s dinner will be drive-thru style along the west side of the church on Campbell Ave.

Walk ups are also welcome.

There is no registration required and anyone in the community who needs a hot Thanksgiving meal is welcome to stop by.

Victory Mission and Central Assembly are preparing to feed 400 individuals at this year’s event.

Meals will be hot and ready to eat, prepared individually in take home boxes.

88.3 The Wind will also be on site, welcoming guests with warm cheer and music.

Victory plans on serving close to 1400 individuals through holiday meals this season with local churches.

All sites have chosen to do drive-thru style to make sure everyone stays safe while receiving their food.

Victory has already handed out over 600 Thanksgiving baskets to members of the community who needed food for the holiday.

Almost 500 of those baskets were distributed through Victory’s new Mobile Pantry that launched in March.

The Mobile Pantry partners with six local churches all over the city multiple times a month for the community to be able to receive food.

Case management is an integral part of the mobile pantry.

Janelle Reed, Advancement Director of Victory Mission said, “We needed to change the way we distributed and served our holiday meals this year. Food insecurity is even greater than we have seen in the past so that means we needed to continue to serve individuals in need, albeit a little different. Everyone deserves a hot, home cooked meal; we want to make that easier for everyone in need this holiday season.”
