Blood reserves are alarmingly low on the shelves at Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.
The CBCO is putting out a critical appeal for all blood types.
A spokesman says high use of blood in area hospitals and a negative impact on donation rates due to COVID-19 are combining to cause the shortage.
The Springfield Donor Center at Campbell and Plainview will be open through Wednesday, with special hours from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will be open for apheresis appointments only on Friday.
