The Bass Pro Tournament of champions will not be coming in 2021. Organizers say it has been cancelled out of coronavirus precautions.
Instead, a smaller Springfield R-12 tournament will be held January 14-16.
“We are disappointed that it won’t be possible to host the 2021 Tournament of Champions but protecting the health and well-being of our players, staff and fans is our top priority,” explained Josh Scott, Springfield Public Schools athletic director. “We’ve all learned this year the importance of being flexible so we are adapting, too.”
The new tournament will feature the DeSmet, Greenwood, Kickapoo, and Hartville High Schools.
The bracket will be released on Springfield Public Schools website. Safety protocols will be in place during the event.
