Springfield-Greene County Health Director Expresses “Cautious Optimism” In Downward Trend Of COVID-19 Cases

The Springfield-Greene County health director says he’s “cautiously optimistic” about a downward trend in the number of COVID-19 cases in the county.

Clay Goddard told Springfield City County Tuesday that Monday’s total of 37 new cases is the lowest daily total since mid August.

He says we’ve seen a 24% drop in new cases over the last week compared to the previous week.

Goddard also says the White House Coronavirus Task Force report downgraded the severity of cases in Greene County from red to orange for the first time since early September.

But he says the state as a whole, as well as some counties neighboring Greene, continue to struggle with high COVID counts, filling hospital beds.
