Springfield Police are asking people to call 911 to report mask ordinance violations.
They say using the number, even for a non-emergency, helps them process the call faster.
Reports were originally directed to a special number with the city, but police say they would rather get the report directly.
Authorities say calling 911 for a city ordinance violation is normal procedure, even in cases such as traffic violations.
Dispatch operators usually receive an average of around 3 mask violation complaints a day.
