As Hurricane Laura intensifies as it heads toward the U.S. Golf Coast, the remnants of the storm are expected to track through parts of the Ozarks later this week.

The National Weather Service says the heavy rain will move from Arkansas into parts of southern Missouri late Thursday night and Friday.

The best chance for heavy rain and possible flooding will be southeast of a line from Eminence to Gainesville.

This is based on the latest projected track of the low center, and changes will still be possible.

Rainfall amounts of two to four inches are possible in this area, with amounts dropping off sharply closer to Springfield.
