A retired Sergeant with the Springfield Police Department who most recently served as a school resource officer in Republic has died following a battle with cancer.
The school district e-mailed staff and parents Tuesday informing them Officer Todd King died on Sunday, August 16th after courageously battling cancer.
King joined the district in November, 2019 after a 25 year career in Springfield, where he served as sergeant over SPD’s Violent Crimes Unit.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and before that, served in a variety of capacities as a Corporal and Officer, including the Internal Affairs Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and on patrol.
