Masking is no longer required in Joplin.
The Joplin City Council voted 5-4 Monday to rescind its masking ordinance on the same day it was scheduled to expire.
Council members have also decided to release businesses from occupancy restrictions and raise the attendance permitted at gatherings from 50 to 250 people.
The motion to move to skip “Step 3:” and move to “Step 4” of the city’s recovery plan was authorized by an 8-1 vote.
One councilman says he thinks freedoms are being infringed on and he sees fear.
