A Springfield Police officer has tested positive for COVID-19.
He’s the first officer to test positive so far.
Chief Paul Williams confirmed the test in a Tweet.
@SGFPolice #COVID19 While our daily precautions have had the desired effect of keeping our officers safe—sorry to report we have had our first positive test; we’ve quarantined the officer and his coworkers and are conducting additional testing.

He says the officer and his coworkers have been quarantined.
The department is doing additional testing.
