The Mayor of Branson is signing a proclamation at the Board of Alderman this evening meeting promoting unity and condemning hate speech.

The move comes after a woman in Branson went viral while telling protestors she will teach her grandchildren to hate them while coated in a confederate flag, then raises a fist and make a reference to the KKK.

The city of Branson says it supports the constitutional rights of everyone to peacefully assemble and protest, the city does not in any way support hate speech, racism, or the teaching of hate towards any person or group.

BRANSON, Mo – Mayor Edd Akers will issue a proclamation at tonight’s regular Board of Aldermen meeting at 6 p.m. at Branson City Hall promoting unity and condemning hate speech.

The proclamation in part, reiterates the City of Branson’s commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all citizens and visitors to our community.

This proclamation comes after a video of a woman, in Branson, draped in a Confederate Battle Flag, went viral on several social media platforms. The woman stated she was going to “teach her grandchildren to hate” a select group of people, raised her fist and made a reference to the KKK. This action occurred among a separate group during a peaceful demonstration along W. 76 Country Blvd. in Branson.

While the City of Branson supports the Constitutional rights of everyone to peacefully assemble and protest any cause, the City does not, in any way, support hate speech, racism or the teaching of hate toward anyone or any group.
