Just in time for Easter, an egg producer from southwest Missouri is donating more than 300,000 eggs to a local food bank.
Ozarks Food Harvest says the donation from Opal Foods, headquartered in Neosho, will help food-insecure and recently unemployed families in more than two dozen counties across southwest Missouri.
The food bank says fresh eggs are frequently-requested items from its 270 hunger-relief partners.
Eggs are protein-rich, nutrient-dense and versatile for preparing meals.
Opal Foods has donated more than 3.6 million eggs since the program began in 2008.
Huntington Woods of Neosho is delivering the eggs free of charge.
