Ford Donates Face Shields to Mercy Springfield

Ford has announced that they’re assembling FDA-approved plastic face shields and distributing them to first responders, healthcare workers and others on the front line of the coronavirus response, including Mercy Health in Springfield.

Medical facilities around the country are in need of supplies and Ford Motor Company released the following statement in response to the nation-wide shortages:

“We’re humbled to share that Mercy Health in Springfield has received a donation of 15,000 of these face shields, built by UAW volunteers. The transparent face shields fully block the face and eyes from accidental contact with liquids and, when paired with N95 respirators, can be a more effective way to limit potential exposure to coronavirus.

At Ford, we feel a deep obligation to step up and contribute in times of need and hope these supplies help bring support to medical workers on the front lines of our communities. Please let me know if you’re interested in connecting with someone from the hospital about what this donation means, or someone at Ford who can explain the design, rapid prototyping and manufacturing process.”
