Taney County has recorded its first COVID-19 related death and a CoxHealth spokesperson says that patient was treated in Branson.

CoxHealth says a group at the Medical Center in Branson may have been exposed to the coronavirus while the patient was there.

As of Friday, employees at the Medical Center in Branson are required to wear masks if they come in contact with anyone directly and the hospital plans to release further information about masking throughout CoxHealth facilities next week.

The patient was in his 70’s and was being treated for other health problems when he died.

The positive COVID-19 results came back after his death.

“We are heartbroken to announce the first death of COVID-19,” said Taney County Health Department Director Lisa Marshall. “We want to express our sincerest condolences to the patient’s family and loved ones.

There have been 5 cases so far in Taney County.
