MoDOT Holds Virtual Meeting On Work At James River And Glenstone

MoDOT is holding a virtual meeting on upgrades at the James River and Glenstone interchange in Springfield.

The construction project will include a new roundabout on Republic Road near the Springfield Nature Center.

Here’s more from MoDOT:

Those interested in a project to improve traffic flow along U.S. Route 60 at and near the Glenstone Avenue interchange in Springfield are invited to view the plans and construction timeline via a virtual (online) public meeting that will last from Tuesday, March 31, until Tuesday, April 14, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The virtual public meeting can be accessed here: U.S. Route 60/Glenstone Avenue Virtual Public Meeting.

Those unable to access the online meeting are encouraged to contact MoDOT’s Southwest District at 417.895.7600 and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.

The project includes several improvements:

  • Add lane in Route 60 median in each direction between National Avenue & Route 65
  • Consolidate Glenstone and Republic ramps to eastbound Route 60 at Harvard Avenue, remove existing eastbound on ramp near Nature Center Way
  • Build roundabout on Glenstone Avenue at intersection with Nature Center Way/Republic Road
  • Widen westbound Route 60 off ramp to Glenstone Avenue
  • Replace deteriorating pavement on eastbound Route 60 between Glenstone Avenue and Route 65
  • All improvements can be made without needing additional property

Expected traffic impacts during construction:

  • Nighttime lane closings on U.S. Route 60 and on Glenstone Avenue at times
  • Southbound Glenstone Avenue-to-eastbound Route 60 ramp closed for up to 10 days
  • Narrowed lanes and traffic shifts on U.S. Route 60 & on Glenstone Avenue at times

Construction is scheduled to begin in August/September 2020 and be completed by October 2021.

The estimated project cost is $22.3 million.
