MERS Goodwill has closed its doors and donation centers across Missouri due to the coronavirus pandemic.
If you take anything to a drop-off site, it may get stolen or damaged and won’t be useful.
Instead, Goodwill is asking you to hang on to any donations until its stores are allowed to re-open, and those items will be needed more than ever.
Locally, Goodwill says it collects more than 75 million pounds of donations each year.
The organization says most of its employees have been furloughed, but they will keep their health insurance through April 30th.
In addition, Goodwill is giving each furloughed employee an assistance check of up to $1,000, based on actual hours worked.
