Salvation Army’s Drive-Through Food Pantry Open Wednesday

The Salvation Army in Springfield says in the midst of difficult times, it is still working to help those in our community who need it the most.

Here’s the full release, with information on the drive through food pantry and front-line feeding program:

  1. Our Food Pantry, located at 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway will continue to be open on Wednesdays. Instead of doing an in person intake in the building, we will be operating a drive through food pantry until further notice. Recipients will need to drive to back of the building and volunteers or employees will load the food directly into your car.  A valid picture i.d. will be required and we are requesting proof of residency for either Greene or Christian County (this can be a piece of mail within the last 30 days) to show to our workers. We will not be handling these items.

  1. In addition, our Daily (7 days a week, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) Front-Line Feeding Program located at 636 N. Booneville will have the following temporary changes until further notice: Per the National CDC directives on guidance for “social distancing “we are reconstructing our food distribution so that mass crowding is minimized and dispersed. As of Tuesday, March 17th, the dining room of Harbor House was no longer accessible to the public for the Front-Line Feeding Program. All food will be served in mobile “take out” boxes.

The distribution point will be as follows:

  1. At the east side of the building (the back side).
  2.     Possible Canteen deployment – when needed.
