Greene County now leads the state of Missouri in confirmed cases of coronavirus, with a third positive case confirmed by local health officials Monday morning.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says identifying information will not be provided to protect the patient’s right to privacy.
The health department will notify people who have had contact with the patient, who traveled domestically.
Staff are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to find close contacts of the patient who were possibly exposed.
As of Saturday, the state public health lab is no longer required to send positive cases to the CDC for confirmation.
This is the sixth confirmed cased of COVID-19 in Missouri, with three in Greene County, two in St. Louis County and one in Henry County.
