Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Quarantines Exposed Staff, Resumes Operation

Golden Valley Memorial Hospital has temporarily been on diversion so staff in contact with the COVID-19 patient could be screened, but standard operations have now resumed.

A statement released by the hospital says they worked in accordance with CDC guidelines and DHSS direction to place any staff who may have been in contact with the patient on a 14-day quarantine.

The hospital has implemented all CDC protocols for infectious disease and is working closely with the CDC, DHSS and Henry County Health Department to prevent the risk and spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Golden Valley says patients may keep their scheduled appointments if they are not showing signs of respiratory illness.

They are recommending anyone who has symptoms contact their primary care provider via phone or through the myGVMH patient portal for guidance on care.

The hospital is taking further precautions by limiting patient visits.

If a person is not seeking treatment or directly assisting someone who needs medical attention, GVMH is requesting they do not visit its facilities at this time.

Chief Executive Officer at GVMH, Craig Thompson says, “Our top priority is the safety of our patients, employees and communities. During this unprecedented time, you can be certain that we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and are working diligently to maintain our standard of care and protect our families, friends and neighbors.”

For more information on COVID-19, DHSS has implemented a statewide public hotline.

The hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be reached at 877-435-8411.
