Three people are in the hospital with severe burns after a car fire.
Authorities say the fire happened at the Flying J near West Chestnut Expressway around 2:30 Friday morning.
Police in Springfield say the group had just filled up a gas can and when they put the gas can in the car, someone lit a cigarette which started the fire.
Officers say the people were able to escape the car.
They were taken to the hospital with burns and are listed in critical condition.
