Governor Declares State Of Emergency, 2 More Positive Cases

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson declared a state of emergency in response to the new coronavirus and said the state has two more presumptive positive cases.

President Donald Trump declared a national emergency earlier Friday.

Meanwhile, St. Louis County is banning events with more than 250 people, and some schools have closed early for spring break after Missouri recorded its second case of the novel coronavirus.

St. Louis County Executive Sam Page, who also is a physician, says prevention is key in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The Mercy health system plans to open a drive-thru testing facility in a St.Louis suburb as soon as Saturday.

A press release issued late Friday by the Governor’s Office says one of the patients has been identified by location.

“As of today, two more individuals have tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 in Missouri. One of these individuals is a St. Louis County resident. It is a domestic travel-related case, and the patient is 50-60 years of age. Additional details on the second case will be shared with the public as soon as all notifications have been made.”
