Greene County Voter Turnout ‘Steady’ So Far

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller says it looks like voter turnout will hit 30-percent by the end of the day.

That would be less than the 40-percent predicted before the polls opened.

Schoeller says there have been no long lines, just a steady stream of voters coming in.

Voter turnout was around seven-percent at mid-morning Tuesday.

That number climbed to around 23-percent by late afternoon.

Schoeller says the county has provided cleaning products to make things as safe as possible amid concerns about the coronavirus.

“If you want to bring your own black ball point pen and you want to bring your own hand sanitizer we certainly encourage that too,” says Schoeller.

Missouri and five other states are holding presidential preference primaries today.

The polls close at 7 p.m.
