No Bombs Found After Hospital Threatened

Bomb threats to the Cox Barton County Hospital turned out with no substance after authorities and staff searched the building on Wednesday.

Lamar Police Chief Rusty Rives says the hospital was cleared of most patients, but a few still remained inside.

The patients have since returned inside after nothing resembling an explosive could be found in the building.

Cox Security responded to the incident.

Several counties responded to help evacuate patients, and ambulances arrived from Benton County, Vernon County, Mercy in Carthage, Crawford County, and Mets Ambulance in Joplin.

Rives says the situation was cleaned up and taken care of by around 5:20 p.m. The bomb threats came at 2:50 p.m.

There are no suspects at this time.
