55 year-old Timothy J. Williams was working for Affordable Towing when he was fatally hit by a driver on Highway 65 Friday night.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the driver was 27-year-old Christopher Rice.
According to reports, Rice veered off the roadway and struck Williams as he was standing next to a vehicle near Blue Grass Road on Highway 65.
An Affordable Towing spokesperson said Williams would have celebrated his 56th birthday on Saturday.
Instead of celebrating his birth, the community gathered to remember his life with a candlelight vigil at Broadway Freedom Church Saturday evening.
This is the 10th traffic related fatality in Highway Patrol Troop D jurisdiction, covering most of southwest Missouri.
