Man Charged In Tuesday Morning Shooting

UPDATE: Police have now identified a suspect arrested in a shooting at the Springfield Underground in north Springfield.

Springfield Police arrested Stanley Johnson.

The 26 year old from Springfield have been jailed in the Greene County Jail.

Greene County’s prosecutor charged Johnson with assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

The storage facility is located near Kearney and U.S. 65.

KTTS News is getting reports one person is in custody after a shooting in northeast Springfield.

Springfield Police presented charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon to the Greene County Prosecutor.

The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday at the former limestone mine that’s rented by several businesses.

Police were originally dispatched to an “active shooter,” but Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams says it was not an active shooter incident.”

Authorities say the incident appears random and was no directed at a certain person of business.

It’s at a business “cave” near Kearney and LeCompte Road at Springfield Underground.

One person was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. He has since been released.

Police have issued a press release confirming certain details and detailing the charges presented to the prosecutor.
