Missouri Health Officials Can’t Connect Vaping To Lung Disease

Missouri health officials say they’ve not been able to connect e-cigarettes to severe lung disease.

But the Department of Health and Senior Services is monitoring reports of severe pulmonary disease in e-cigarette users.

It comes after The Illinois Department of Public Health reported what’s believed to be the first death from vaping.

The Missouri Poison Center has received more than 600 calls related to e-cigarettes over the past 10 years – along with over 30 cases of breathing difficulties in the past five years.

The CDC reports there have now been 193 potential cases of severe lung illness associated with vaping in 22 states from June 28-August 20.

The DHSS says while some cases in each of the 22 states are similar and appear to be linked to e-cigarette product use, more information is needed to determine what is causing the illness.
