The Trooper and Deputy that were shot five days ago near Van Buren are both improving.
Trooper Caleb McCoy was shot in his bullet-proof vest. The vest caught most of the impact and he was left only with a large bruise.
Deputy Briggs Pierson was shot multiple times and had to be dragged out of the fight by another responding trooper.
Pierson is still in the hospital but the Carter County Sheriff Richard Stevens says he is walking and doing much better.
