A man who shot a Highway Patrol trooper and a Carter County sheriff’s deputy is finally in custody.
The deputy and trooper were serving an eviction notice this morning on Highway M in Van Buren when the man opened fire.
The trooper and deputy were both wearing bulletproof vests.
Their injuries aren’t life threatening.
The man finally surrendered after a long standoff.
The bomb squad was called in to check out the man’s property.

A Highway Patrol trooper and a Carter County Sheriff’s deputy have been shot several times while serving an eviction notice in Van Buren.
The deputy and trooper were serving the notice this morning on Highway M when a man inside the home opened fire.
The deputy was hit in the leg, groin, and chest.
The trooper was hit in the shoulder and bulletproof vest.
There injuries aren’t life-threatening.
They were both wearing protective vests.
The suspect is still inside the home.
Authorities are still on the scene in a standoff with the man.
