Missouri State head volleyball coach Melissa Stokes has resigned after an independent investigation found some NCAA violations within the program.
The violations include allowing enrolled athletes to take part as campers in Stokes’ volleyball camps and allowing a recruit to accompany the team during a European tour without personally paying all costs for the tour.
The investigation says Stokes also allowed some student-athletes to stay in her rental properties during the summer for free or at a reduced cost.
The university is in the process of self-reporting the NCAA violations.
Stokes has been the Missouri State head volleyball coach for 23 years.
Stokes will get $80,000 dollars as part of a negotiated separation agreement.
Manolo Concepcion has been named the interim head coach.
The university will begin a national search for the next head coach at the end of the season.
