The Dallas County Prosecutor has changed the charge against the man accused of killing two-year-old Kinzlea Kilgore.
Kenneth Davis is now charged with child abuse resulting in death instead of second-degree murder.
The prosecutor says the charge is more accurate.
It carries the same penalties as the murder charge.
If Davis is convicted, he could face 10 to 30 years in prison.
He would also have to serve at least 85-percent of his sentence.
Davis is charged with killing two-year-old Kinzlea Kilgore, his girlfriend’s daughter.
She died from head injuries.
Davis is also charged with child abuse in a separate case in Greene County.
