Springfield Schools Implementing New Visitor Management System This School Year

Schools in the Springfield School District will be implementing a new way to manage visitors this upcoming school year.

Springfield Public School says the new system will use a person’s government issued ID to check in.

Any friends, parents or volunteers will have to present a valid ID when coming to the school. Staff will then scan it with a system that will run it through a database of registries.

The registries check for anything that may post a threat to student’s safety. It checks across all 50 states.

If the system gives the all-clear, the visitor will then be given an badge to wear until they sign back out.

The system will be used across all schools in Springfield starting Aug. 13th.
