Audit Critical Of Parson For Travel To Shows, Football Game

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri’s Democratic state auditor says Republican Gov. Mike Parson was reimbursed for unnecessary travel when he previously served as lieutenant governor.

Auditor Nicole Galloway on Thursday released a report criticizing Parson for being reimbursed for travel expenses to go to entertainment events. The audit says Parson’s office didn’t document how those events, including a Kansas City Chief’s football game and performances in Branson, were necessary in his role as lieutenant governor.

In a response included in the audit, Parson’s office says he attended the events as part of his work promoting Missouri tourism.

Parson served as lieutenant governor until June 2018, when former Gov. Eric Greitens resigned in the face of possible impeachment . Parson took over as governor when Greitens left.
