Security Guard Charged With Impersonating Officer

A security guard is facing charges of impersonating an officer. Caleb O’Pry allegedly impersonated an officer when performing a citizen’s arrest on a man who had drugs in his possession. According to official documents, O’Pry suspected a man of possessing marijuana after passing his car and seeing a marijuana pipe in the car.

The man alleges that he only let O’Pry inspect his car because he believed O’Pry was an officer. He said that O’Pry never said he was a security guard or an officer.

Caleb O’Pry was formerly employed by an organization called SMOJS, which stands for Southern Missouri Judicial Services. He was recognized in the news recently for risking his life to save a woman from a burning home. The woman was later pronounced dead. SMOJS has come under increased scrutiny after their owner was indicted with seizing drugs from private citizens and storing the drugs in his office.

The owner, Tim Brenner, claims that he was keeping them for training drug-sniffing dogs. SMOJS says it takes precautions to make sure it’s employees are not mistaken for officers.
