Governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson says that he has reached an agreement a hog farm to cease operations on the watershed near Buffalo National River. C and H hog farm and the state of Arkansas have been going back and forth on the issue for a while.

The state was stepping in on behalf of local group who claim that the Buffalo National River next to the hog farm was showing signs of increased levels of E. Coli, nitrates, and phosphorus due to that farms presence. Other ecologists dispute this claim, saying that there is no difference between water upstream and downstream of the farm.

The farm has agreed to give the state an easement next to the lake, and the state has agreed to pay 6.2 million dollars.
