Lost & Found 10th Annual Run And Remember

An annual event that’s been going on for 10 years is happening this week in Springfield.

The Memorial Event Run and Remember is expected to have over 500 people participating in this year’s run and walk in memory for a friend or family member who has died.

The event is being held at Jordan Valley Park this Thursday and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

(Information provided by Lost & Found Grief Center)

Over 550 people have already registered to attend Lost & Found Grief Center’s 10th Annual Memorial Event, Run and Remember. Individuals and teams will gather together to run or walk in memory of a friend or family member who has died. This year, in addition to the individual registrants, we have 12 teams with 10 or more participants on each, running or walking to honor the memory of a common loved one – most of whom had shirts created for this event in memory of their loved one(s).

The event includes:

· 5K Run

·  Memory Walk (Approx. 1 Mile)

· Meaningful Remembrance Program

Schedule of Events:

· 6 p.m., Race Registration + Lantern Sales Open

· 7 p.m., 5K and Memory Walk Begins

· 8:15 p.m., Remembrance Program

Costs:

· Paper Lantern: $10 each

· Pre-Registration for the 5K and Memory Walk

o Adults: $25 ($30 day of)

o Children: $15 ($20 day of)

This event is for new and seasoned runners, walkers, children, and dogs on leashes! We are expecting nearly 600 participants for 2019, which would be a record year! Finisher medals will be given to the first 350 participants who cross the line in the 5K. Illuminated lanterns can be purchased in memory of loved ones and will be used in the program to show the light they brought to the world.

Following the 5K and Memory Walk, children and teens who have been a part of the Lost & Found grief support groups will play an integral role in the simple, dignified remembrance ceremony.

The event fulfills the need for people to publicly acknowledge the memory of a life that was important to them, whether the loss was recent or many years ago.
