Nixa Police Department is warning about a phone scam targeting people in Nixa after a woman called in to report a strange phone call she received.
She said the caller asked her to pay certain so-called taxes by gift cards and if she did, she would get grant assistance. They claimed to be with the Nixa Health Department.
Nixa does not have such a department and if it does, it wouldn’t solicit money over the phone. It is better to hang up and call the city yourself if you are unsure of the caller’s identity.
