Flu Season Longest in a Decade, CDC Says

The Center for Disease Control has announced that this year’s flu season is the longest flu season of the decade—beating out 2018’s flu season of 10 weeks.

The H1N1 virus is the most prominent version of the flu this year, but was beat out by the H2N3 virus later on in the season.

Around 36 million cases of influenza were reported this season throughout the U. S. with just under 60,000 deaths from the disease. The flu is now on the decline.

Most of the deaths came from the H2N3 Virus. The CDC encourages people to get vaccinated against the virus as that is the best preventative measure.
