Police in Branson are investigating a kidnapping and assault that happened at the Stratford House Inn over the weekend.
Officers responded to the hotel off of 76 Country Blvd about a report of a man who was stabbed around 8 a.m. on April 13th.
Police say when they arrived, officers learned a man had been held in a room against his will overnight, during which he was repeatedly assaulted.
Seeing an opportunity to escape, the victim was able to grab a knife and cut one of the suspects, fleeing the room in the process.
As officers were responding to the reports of the stabbing, the victim flagged down a passing motorist who also called the police.
Police believe there were three suspects involved in the kidnapping and assault.
Two are in custody and police are looking for the third.
The man who was stabbed was taken to the hospital in Springfield.
Gary Murphy, 31, from Branson, is charged with kidnapping and assault.
Khristian Garbrecht, 27, from Branson is currently being held at the Taney County Jail, on kidnapping charges.
The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.
Police do not believe there is a threat to the general public as this was an isolated incident among acquaintances.
The investigation into this case continues.
