Voters in the Springfield School District have passed Proposition S, an increase to the debt service levy to renovate and upgrade several schools.

The proposal passed with 61% of the vote.

The district’s adjusted debt service levy is estimated to increase by 18 cents. Funding from the tax will  for improving, repairing, renovating, and acquiring buildings, including security improvements and for the construction and furnishing of new buildings.

Springfield Public Schools spokesman Stephen Hall says “we just appreciate the outpouring of of support that voters demonstrated today. This is a great moment for Springfield and for our schools.”

Alina Lehnert and Charles Taylor were elected to the board of education for Springfield Public Schools.
