Springfield Man Dies After Argument Over Cell Phone

One man has died and another is in jail after an argument ended in a shooting in Springfield.

The family of Jamie Carroll say he died in the hospital after being shot in the pelvis on February 21st.

Keeton H. Waring has been charged with assault in the case. He is a convicted felon.

Springfield Police think the shooting happened after an argument where Waring accused several people in a house on Johnston of stealing his cell phone.

Officers say Waring left, then started another argument when he returned.

At one point he pointed a gun at another person. When Carroll stepped in, he was shot in the pelvis at close range.
