Woman From Springfield Sentenced To 8 Years For Drunk Driving Death

A woman from Springfield has been sentenced to eight years behind bars for driving drunk and killing a woman from Fair play.

The crash happened last month on James River, just west of Scenic Avenue.

Melissa Mahan, 37,  was charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter without probation.

Mahan hit Leslee Owrey’s vehicle and ran her off the road. Owery was thrown from her car. She was 54.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab found Mahan’s blood alcohol content was .295 percent; the legal limit for drivers is .08 percent.
