Gearing up for an election in June, city leaders in Springfield are talking about an extension to the quarter cent sales tax for capitol improvements. Offficals say the tax would generate an estimated $24 million over a three year period. That money would pay for road, sidewalk, and storm water drainage projects. Before the vote in June, two public open house meetings will held. The first one is set for Tuesday, February 16, at the Library Center on south Campbell from 6pm to 8pm.
