It was a fugitive felon who was shot dead during a gunfight with a Greene County investigator and deputy U-S Marshal. The sheriff says Lance Anderson was pulled over at Division and Frisco in Springfield, getting out of his pickup holding a handgun and firing a shot. The officers fired back. Anderson was 23. He was wanted on active warrants for stealing and was also the prime suspect for an incident in Bolivar where an officer was shot at earlier this week. Springfield Police Chief Lynn Rowe says his department is now helping in the investigation. Rowe says having an outside agency take a look at the case helps lend credibility to the results. An autopsy on Anderson's body is set for this afternoon.
