All four Oklahoma Escapees Caught In Branson

Updated:

All four escapees from a jail in Oklahoma have been arrested in Branson.  The first two were just after midnight.  Branson police chief Caroll McCullough says the officer thought the driver was drunk and pulled him over near the Wal-Mart on Highway 76.  As he questioned the driver, the passenger took off running and jumped over a retaining wall at the east end of the Vista Plaza and broke both of his legs.  He's undergoing surgery at Skaggs hospital.  McCullough says the driver tried to strangle himself with his t-shirt as he waited to be booked into jail and passed out.  He was brought to a hospital in Springfield.  The other two were recognized at motel this afternoon in Branson and police were able to arrest them without a struggle.

Pictured above is Doyle Bertschy (pictured) whom a motel clerk recognized and then called the cops. has a mother and brother who live there, and warns everyone to be on the lookout.  Authorities in Kay County, Oklahoma say the men had outside help escaping.  Someone threw them a rope as they scaled a wall up to the skylight.
