The Jasper County Sheriff is asking for your help solving a double homicide west of Carthage. Sheriff Archie Dunn says the Tri-State Major Case squad is looking for leads in the deaths of Robert and Ellen Sheldon, who were found dead in their home Sunday morning. The sheriff says he needs all the help he can get. The sheriff clarified a statement he made earlier, calling the murders a "hate crime". He says the couple died violent deaths, saying someone hated them passionately to kill them the way they died. But the sheriff won't say how they died. Robert Sheldon owned a gun shop, which was right next to the couple's home. He was also a reserve sheriff's deputy.
