Springfield City Council Discusses Conflicts Of Interest With Budget Cuts

Springfield City Council is addressing concerns of conflicts of interest involving budget cuts.  All departments have been required to submit proposals to cut their budgets by 7-percent for the year because of general revenue shortfalls.  But some council members also serve on the boards of those departments.  City Attorney Dan Wichmer say it's up to the council to decide how it wants to deal with the issue because the supposed conflicts wouldn't result in any council person gaining financially from any decisions made.
