Born in Chicago, raised mostly in the south suburb of Steger, Illinois. Attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb Illinois and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology in 1984.

My first television job was at WEAU-TV in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 1986, I came to Springfield to be the chief meteorologist at KOLR-TV.

I have been an instructor of weather at Missouri State University for many years.  My classes have included Introduction to Weather and Climate and Severe and Unusual Weather.

As a storm chaser,  I led two field trips into the central U.S. during Storm Chasing classes at MSU in 2009 and 2011.  I was hired by Artworks to chase down storms for use in stock footage in the spring of 2010.

In the spring of 2013, I started a guided storm chase tour company and chased both the Moore and  record-breaking El Reno tornadoes in Oklahoma.

My interest in weather came from the storms themselves and how broadcasters in Chicago got excited about them!

I have been married for 13 years and have two children, a girl and a boy.  We also have a Sheltie named Shelby! I love to brew beer and have made my own homemade vinegar. My wife and I love to try new foods and restaurants.
