(Missourinet)-The Missouri Conservation Department says 194 thousand deer were killed during this years firearms season. That compares with 190 thousand during last years hunt.

Officials say the increase is largely due to a bad acorn crop brought on by this summers drought. The result  was deer becoming easier targets, moving out into the open in search of food.
