Holiday Shoppers Staying Local For Small Business Saturday

After a big day of hunting for deals on Black Friday, you can continue your holiday gift shopping by supporting small businesses across the Ozarks today.

Small Business Saturday started back in 2010 when American Express launched a campaign to get small businesses a bigger chunk of holiday spending.

Last year, Americans spent 15.4 billion dollars at independent retailers and restaurants across the country.

A survey from RetailMeNot says this year, shoppers are expected to spend about $743 over the holiday weekend, compared to $505 over Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday in 2016.

Folks say shopping small contributes to the local tax base and keeps revenue dollars in the same place that people earn it.
