Fordland Teenager Walks Out Of Jail After Murder Charge Dropped

One year, seven months and 11 days behind bars, and now freedom!

The attorney for Joshua Applegate, an 18 year old accused of murder in Webster County, says prosecutors dropped that charge and agreed to probation in exchange for a guilty plea to unlawful use of a firearm.

Four others charged with killing Oscar Martinez at a home in Fordland back in April, 2016 have pleaded guilty.

His attorney says Applegate didn't have prior knowledge of the crime and he only fired a gun in self-defense toward his co-defendants, who are all awaiting sentencing.
