Bomb Squad Called To School Office Building In Buffalo

The Buffalo Police Department says an improvised explosive device was found at an office building for the school district in Dallas County.

Officers say they called in the Springfield Bomb Squad to destroy the device.

Assistant Superintendent of Career and Support Services Debbie Dryer tells KTTS News the device was attached to the main door of an office building in the 300 block of East Ramsey Street.

"There are no students in that building and so students were not at risk. It's on Ramsey Street which is away from any building that does have students," said Dryer.

Messages were sent to families telling them students at the school were safe.

"Law enforcement did a check of all of our school district buildings prior to that so we could reassure them their students were safe today," said Dryer.

Police say the school office building and nearby homes were evacuated.

The Buffalo Police Department is asking anyone with any information to contact Lieutenant Tony Kinser at 417-345-2709.
